Test Preparation....MyWrittenExam.com. This site allows you to practice the tests as many times as you like - FREE for a limited time. Their practice tests, are made up of all of the official FAA questions and answers, which will help you pass any of the FAA Written Exams. A plus for this site is that you can stop each test at any time and come back later to finish it when time permits. Kip's FAA Written Test Prep Page. This page was also designed to give students a tool for improving their aeronautical knowledge. It is free and was designed to be flexible to the time constraints of its users. The tests are intended to be much more than just another web-application. Instead, it was designed to be a community site where it's easy for users to help each other. Other sites include: FreeFAA, WebExams, 4VFR, and Dave's. Some of the "practice guides" will have outdated questions, so the actual questions (without answers) from the FAA Test Question Banks can help too: Private & Recreational, Instrument, CFI, and Commercial.

Although this site is directed towards CFI's, there is useful information for every pilot here. The CFI.com. This web site is maintained by professional CFIs who teach industry leading Flight Instructor Refresher Clinics nationwide. They use this site as a tool in their classrooms and provide it to you as a service to the flight training industry.
Flight Planning....Graphical TFRs from the FAA. Finally the FAA is providing graphical TFRs to pilots. There are only a few available with graphics, but at least it's a start. Being able to actually see where you're not to fly, as opposed to just being told, is a big help to pilots. Current TFR notams are available on the FAA's web site. Aerial Photographs of many of the airports PFTC students use as destinations my be found on this Civil Air Patrol web site. NOTE: The aerial photographs may not be accurate or current and are not valid for navigation, flight planning, or for use in flight. Always consult the official publications for current and correct information. Check NOTAMs before flying. AirNav.com. A web site database of useful airport information including airports, navaids, fixes and aviation fuel. This is similar to the information contained in the FAA's AF/D. Many of the airport information pages include an aerial photo. Current Icing Potential. The CIP is an automatically generated index of current icing potential. Sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration and implemented by the National Weather Service Aviation Weather Center. CIP is a gridded icing diagnostic that updates hourly. Sun or Moon Rise-Set Table for One Year. Are you planning a night flight? Would you like to know if the moon will be visible in the sky when and where you'll be flying? If, on the other hand, it is going to be a very dark moonless sky, wouldn't you like to know about it before you get in the air? Airport Directories....AirNav.com. A web site database of useful airport information including airports, navaids, fixes and aviation fuel. This is similar to the information contained in the FAA's AF/D. Although lacking airport diagrams, many of the airport information pages include aerial photos. Airport/Facility Directory (A/FD). Comprehensive and compact, but would be enhanced by better diagrams. The directory covers all of the U.S. in seven separate issues. Available in the PFTC Pilot Shop. AOPA's Airport Directory. Covers the entire country. Some airports have runway diagrams, but all lack taxiway illustrations. The guide is available in paper format, compact disc or online. AOPA members receive the Airport Directory free. Flight Guide Airport & Frequency Manual. Three comprehensive, compact manuals that cover the U.S. in a clear, easy-to-read format, including excellent airport diagrams. Available in the PFTC Pilot Shop. Jeppesen's JeppGuide. JeppGuide has very detailed airport diagrams for most airports as well as all pertinent information. Published in six U.S. coverage areas. Pilots Guide. Contains four removable pages for each controlled airport with incredibly comprehensive information. There are three separate binders for the U.S. Available from Optima online.

This web site contains links and information on practically every facet of aviation. You'll find links to weather reports, aviation related abbreviation, aviation history and humor, calculators, translators, photographs, directory of service and supply providers and more.
Just For Fun....Pilot's Guide to Fly-In Restaurants. The Hundred Dollar Hamburger is an aviation staple. This web site provides first hand reports on restaurants at or very near general aviation airports worldwide. Lots of choices within the area most pilots fly from Allegheny County. PASSUR Live Radar. This program allows you to view live radar from Los Angeles International Airport. Hailed as "The World's Most Reliable Arrival System", it is now online and with it a "live" demo for all traffic in the busy airspace surrounding Los Angeles International Airport. Data is not quite real-time for the public demo for obvious security reasons. Using company owned radar and a custom made software suite, a user can watch flights up to 96 miles out, superimposed over a map. AirsideTV.com. This is a web-based aviation television channel. They play scheduled programs and video footage of all forms of aviation. AirsideTV.com calls themselves "Your Window On The Flying World" and plans on evolving into a major moving picture portal to the aviation world... all online! Unusual Aviation Photos. Interesting site containing quite a few photos of things like spectacular approaches, landing mishaps, ramp mishaps and even a few video clips of gear-up landings and some just about as bad involving airliners around the world. OpenAirNet.com. This site has a growing list of great places to visit and get a hundred-dollar hamburger. Destinations provided by pilots. Upcoming events email notification, plus additional email notifications when new Fun Places to Fly Events are added to their database.
