AVT 101 - Private Pilot Theory

AVT103
This course is a study of the principles of flight, specifically covering
all data to obtain a Private pilot Certificate as regulated by the
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA-Part 141). On
completion of AVT101, AVT103, and AVT105, the student
should be able to pass the FAA written examination for
private pilot certification.
AVT 103 - Air Traffic Control Systems (3 credits)*
*Corequisites: AVT101
A study of the development, growth, and usage of the air traffic control
system, with emphasis on the United States. Topics include laws on the
use of air space, airport traffic, flight procedures
(including departures, enroutes, and arrivals),
emergency procedures, and flight assistance available
to pilots.
AVT 105 - Flight-Private (3
credits)*
*Corequisites: AVT101
Flying instruction and experience with an FAA- Part 141 approved fixed base
operator. Included in the course will be the FAA required hours of
instruction and flight experience with both pre and post flight briefings
and the dual/solo flights necessary to be recommended for the FAA Private
Pilot Practical Examination. The student must obtain a Private Pilot
Certificate in order to successfully complete the course. A valid third
class or higher medical certificate is required to enter this course.
